Hello!

Welcome to Becoming Dr. Brown! My very own blog chronicling what is sure to be some of the most exciting and challenging years of my life as I make my way through vet school and become Dr. Brown. I can’t see the future but I am sure there will be many ups and downs to come (but hopefully more ups!!!).

I am not only starting graduate school (vet prep must be completed first) but I am moving over 3,000 km away from home to the Island of Saint Kitts. This is a big deal for me because I’ve never flown out of the country before.

I am currently getting things sorted, packed, and repacked as I try to fit my life into two giant suitcases and two carry-ons. The last important thing to do is get my insurance and visa papers figured out. Hopefully, this will be done in the next two days.

I’ve definitely been jumping through hoops lately trying to get everything figured out in such a short time, but I’m used to that and have had a lot of help and support from the community. For those of you who don’t know, I applied to Ross at the end of March 2016 (that’s less than a month ago!) in a last-minute panic that I wouldn’t get in elsewhere. I got accepted a few days later and everything fell into place after that, so I guess I am on the path I am meant to be on!

It has been a long time coming and I’ve hit many road blocks along the way, but I am beyond excited to begin this journey!

  2. Congratulations Bethany. When I saw you this month last year you were waiting to hear about your application to Vet School. Much to my surprise, you are leaving the country. How exciting is that? What an experience you are going to have and the next thing you know you will be a Dr. and hopefully coming back to your home to start your new business in doing something that you already love. Make sure you keep all of us posted, looking forward to hearing from you again.
